Yes: Turn of the Century, and other matters…

Turn of the Century (1977)

Today we watched a concert video of Yes performing Turn of the Century. There was a video playing at the back of the stage telling the story. Turn of the Century is one of Yes's most beautiful songs, I think, and the lyrics are some of the most understandable. It features a lot of acoustic guitar and piano. It starts and ends very quiet but there is a much louder interval in the middle. The song is about 8 minutes long. We also saw some pictures of Roger Dean's album covers and some buildings that he designed.

Did you hear that England won the World Cup? It was the Under-17s. They beat Spain 5–2 in the final. Although the England senior team has not done well for many years, people are very happy about the younger teams and they hope that they will continue to improve and transform the fortunes of the senior team in a few years.
